Shaitu (“the app”) collects, organizes and finds your screenshots on your Mac. Our principle is simple: your screenshots stay on your Mac. The app has no servers, needs no account, does not connect to the internet, and does not collect, upload or sell any personal information.
The app collects no personal information and no usage data: there are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising or tracking, no third-party SDKs, and no networking at all. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.
Screenshots and screen recordings the app collects are stored in its own sandbox container (private storage), which other apps can’t read. They are never uploaded anywhere. You can delete them in the library at any time: deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days and are then removed for good. You can also delete them permanently right away, or have old screenshots cleaned up automatically in Settings › Storage. A screenshot leaves the app only when you copy, drag, share or export it, to the place you choose.
So that you can search the text in your screenshots, the app reads it with Apple’s Vision framework on your Mac. The recognized text is kept only in the library’s index on your Mac and is deleted together with the screenshot.
You can withdraw any of these at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security or in the app’s settings.
The app includes no third-party SDKs, ad networks or analytics, and communicates with no servers. It is distributed and updated through the Mac App Store; for how Apple handles your data, see the Apple Privacy Policy.
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
