Cube Solver is a standalone cube scanning and solving tutor for 2×2 to 5×5 cubes. Here are the questions we are asked most often — if yours is not below, just write to us.

Frequently asked questions

• How do I scan my cube? 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 and 5×5 are supported. Point any face at the camera and turn the cube face by face, in whatever order suits you; once all six are in, the App moves on by itself.
• Recognition gets the colours wrong. Use even lighting and avoid glare and hard shadows; worn stickers and fluorescent colour schemes can also throw it off. You can tap “Rescan” on the scan screen at any time.
• How long does solving take? 2×2 is instant, 3×3 is usually under a second, and 4×4 and 5×5 take from a few seconds up to about twenty.
• What is free? You get one complete run of scanning and a guided solve for free; after that, scanning needs to be unlocked. Scramble practice stays free forever.
• Buying and restoring. The subscription and the one-time purchase both go through the App Store. After changing device or reinstalling, tap “Restore Purchases” on the unlock screen.
• Privacy. The App collects no data and needs no account, and the camera image is processed on your device only. See the Privacy Policy.

Feedback and ideas

The scan screen has a “Feedback” button in the bottom-right corner: it opens your mail app with the device model, the iOS and App versions and the current cube size and number of captured faces already filled in — those few numbers are exactly what we need to track a problem down. They are plain text in the message body, so you can delete any line you like. Writing to us directly works just as well.
